Nice area for a gig, lots of food stalls, three stages, easy to get a drink. Milburn, Jake Bugg, Rifles and Pete Doherty were all top class. The location has a nice grass bank to sit on in the sunshine too.

Rock N Roll Circus: Milburn, Don Valley Bowl, Sheffield - 31st August 2024
Excellent venue which was very well run and stewarded. The circus performers were a bonus entertainment, all the musicians and bands were top quality, and to top it off, Richard Hawley and the band gave a superb memorable performance.

Rock N Roll Circus: Richard Hawley, Don Valley Bowl, Sheffield - 29th August 2024
What a brilliant day we had (Thursday). From the ease of getting in, going through security, seeing and being welcomed by the brilliant acrobats and Circus acts, the friendly atmosphere, the chilled out vibes, the majestic Big Top, the great sound tracks between bands, chatting to people from different cities right through to the highlight for me, the incomparable Mr Sheffield, Richard Hawley. He is right when he sings his Sheffield anthem, People. In This City They Call You Love. They really do and why not? Thank you, Rock and Roll Circus, can't wait to see who next year's headliners will be. Jarvis would be good, please.

Fantastic line up. Richard Hawley superb, as always, but extra special on home ground. Great to see other retro acts, Gilbert O'Sullivan and The Coral. And where do you get to see The Divine Comedy, these days? They were brilliant, forgotten how good their songs are and very funny, quirky frontman. So, all in all, different, better line up than alot of other festivals that just seem to have same old bands. Aside from line up, the size and organisation of the event was second to none. Easy to get to bar, toilets etc. Alternative stages next to main stage so can flit in and out really easily and there were some great sounds coming from these stages too. Circus skills were an added quirk to the event. Sun was shining, and grass bank to sit on to soak it up and then if if chucks it down you can head for the tent. Will definitely go again next year, but please keep to alternative/retro line up, dont do a tramlines!

A recent addition to the Sheffield festival scene, Rock n Roll Circus is now well established as a genuine rival to Tramlines. Indeed, the added addition of circus acts arguably make this a more entertaining day out. It certainly has a more relaxed vibe, helped by the fantastic weather. The main stage opened with a nostalgic set from Gilbert O'Sullivan that was well received. Greatest hit sets followed from The Coral and The Divine Comedy, with Neil Hannon on top form. A welcome reminder of how good this band still are. Richard Hawley was as ever captivating. A genuine Sheffield legend. The band once again executed a master class. A brilliant day all round, although some decent local ales would have been welcome, to supplement the mediocre brands on offer.
