2. Medical
2.1 This event is physically demanding, the participant should therefore be fit and in good health to participate. If the participant has any medical condition which could be adversely affected by exercise, particularly a heart condition or has any doubt about his health, he must consult a doctor to gain approval to participate. By entering the participant confirms that, to the best of his knowledge, his general state of fitness is good and takes full responsibility for himself. The participant must update the medical team at the event if they have any special conditions or allergies. Please write your special medical conditions clearly on the back of your number board. You may be required to share medical information with the event team.
3. Event rules, regulations and advice.
3.1 For reasons of fairness, safety and responsibility the Participant is expected to abide by the following rules and regulations as laid out by the Organisers. Ignorance of these rules and regulations shall be regarded as no excuse and failure to comply with these rules and regulations may lead to penalties or disqualification from the Event.
A. Always follow and adhere to the Highway Code and local byelaws.
B. The participant should at all times show respect for the environment, landowners, local communities and other recreational users.
C. No outside assistance and no uplifting is allowed during the event or practice.
D. Transport in vehicles is not permitted at any time during the event.
E. Stop and assist any competitors in need of medical attention and alert a race safety steward ASAP.
F. Ensure any injured competitor in proximity to you is adequately provided for, before continuing.
G. Cooperate with Event Officials at all times.
H. The Event Directors decision is final.
I. You must be 18 years or over to ride the full course and 15 to ride the short courses.
J. Riders are responsible for the worthiness of their own bike.
K. Ride in single file on all roads without white central lines. Please be aware of your fellow cyclists and any other traffic. Always indicate your intention to stop or change direction. Extend all reasonable courtesy to other road users.
L. Do not deviate from the official route or practice route. The route will be indicated by map and signage/tape on route. It is the rider’s responsibility to follow the correct route.
M. It is mandatory that all riders wear a safety-approved cycling helmet under three years of age that complies with the latest standards (minimum BSEN14766). Any rider not wearing a helmet will be disqualified from the event and could be liable for damages if involved in an accident on that basis.
N. No rider may take food or drink from anyone whilst on the move; if you need food or drink you must stop to receive it.
O. Individual support cars are strictly forbidden; any participants seen to use one will be disqualified and not covered by third party insurance.
P. All riders carry a form of identification showing their name, medical details, address and/or contact details of a person to be advised in the eventuality of an accident.
Q. All participants should carry enough water and food to last the duration of the ride, energy bars, tools, suitable wet weather gear, money, mobile phone, spare inner tubes and a working pump, as well as extra clothing to complete the ride being undertaken, taking into account the route and possible adverse weather conditions.
R. Riders must have their number board attached to their handlebars at all times when on course.
S. On course you’ll cross open countryside and approach numerous closed gates (not on timed stages), it’s vitally important that you close these behind you.
T. Overtaking – Please do not endanger any other riders you are over taking by being reckless.
U. All competitors are responsible for wearing their timing chip in the correct manner.
V. Do not interfere with the timing boxes or their positioning.
W. Additional rules may be added in the race briefing which all riders must follow.
X. All riders must show valid ID at registration.
Y. The entire course must be completed on the same bike.
Z. You must ride between the tape and arrows as instructed in the event information.
AA. Riders must not enter the course without registering.
AB. Riders must follow the instructions/specific rules set out in the race information for their event.
AC. Do not cut or fold number boards.
AD. All riders must attend the event briefing which may contain additional rules.
AE. Action cameras must be mounted to bikes and not your helmet or body.
AF. We strongly advise that you wear a full face helmet, knee, back and elbow protection.
AG. You must check your bike before riding the event to ensure that it is mechanically sound and suitable for the course.
AH. You can ride a pedal-assist bike but it must be fully legal and comply with UK law.
AI. Riders must not enter the course without registering.
AJ. Riders must follow the instructions/specific rules set out in the race information for their event.
AK. Do not cut or fold number boards.
AL. All riders must read or listen to the event briefing, which may contain additional rules.
3.2 Participants should take note of and abide by the following important points
a. Weather conditions may affect some stages and lead to course variations
b. The organisation reserves the right to terminate an individual’s ride on health and safety grounds
c. The rides will take place regardless of bad weather and will only be cancelled, rerouted or stopped for reasons of safety
d. The organisers will endeavour to provide fluid at designated ‘feed zones’ however, we cannot guarantee supplies will be available at all times and urge riders to only take what they need and be mindful of the needs of those following behind
4. Hazards & Risks and Compliance
4.1 Compliance. It is the sole responsibility of the Participant to comply at all times during the Event with all applicable laws, byelaws and regulations of the United Kingdom, including without limitation, all speed regulations, road traffic laws and laws relating to the possession or use of alcohol, drugs or other prohibited substances.
4.2 The Participant acknowledges and understands that the Event is a potentially hazardous sporting event. The Participant acknowledges and accepts that participation in an event such as the Event is potentially dangerous and that there are numerous risks associated with participation. Such risks and dangers include, but are not limited to: traffic accidents, collisions with pedestrians, vehicles, other drivers, and/or fixed or moving objects and the negligence of other road users. Further, the Participant fully understands and accepts that his participation in the Event may result in serious bodily injury and/or death to yourself or others. The Participant further acknowledges and accepts that the route of the Event may require running and/or cycling on public roadways and on rough uneven terrains upon which pose travelling hazards and risks. Further, the Participant accepts that participation in the Event will result in strenuous physical exertion as participants will be required to be active for very long periods of time, including the risk of being active through inclement weather and/or very hot weather.
4.3 The Participant enters the Event voluntarily and with full knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with participation in the Event, the Participant is strongly advised to take every reasonable precaution and in the case of any questions is advised to contact the Organiser prior to the Event.
4.4 The Participant declares that he/she voluntarily enters the Event with full knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with participation in the Event.
4.5 All participants and entrants must comply with UK law at all times. Given the ever-changing COVID situation, entry protocols are subject to change. Updates will be communicated on the event details page and ticket holders will be notified. Participants and entrants must comply with the events entry protocol.
5. Withdrawal and transfer policy
5.1 Transfers – Entries may be transferred into another name up to 5 weeks before the first day of the event. Transfers can not be made after this date. To change the name on your ticket, find your original booking email and click on the link. If you fail to submit your rider details before 5 weeks to go, you will not be able to race. Please ensure you submit your rider details before the deadline.
5.2 Tickets are non-refundable unless covered by ‘Ticket Protect’ and the reason for Cancellation meets Ticket Protect’s criteria.
6. Participant’s Property during Event
6.1 The acquisition of essential equipment, including specific safety equipment, in order to take part in the Event is the responsibility of the Participant and the Organiser strongly advises that these acquisitions are secured before entering the Event.
6.2 The Organiser accepts no responsibility for the loss of, theft, or damage to any property owned by or under the control of the Participant deposited by the Participant in the Event’s event village and/or at any point of the Event course. This includes any transport of equipment that may be in element of the service provided during the event by, or on behalf, of the organisers.
7. Event Cancellation and Relocation Policy
7.1 Participants will be refunded if the organiser cancels the event prior to the event commencing for any reason other than the safety of the competitors.
7.2 The organiser reserves the right to amend the event schedule and format.
7.3 The organiser reserves the right to relocate the event.
8. Organiser’s Event Equipment
8.1 If equipment is provided to the Participant by the Organiser, all reasonable care is expected to be exercised by the Participant in relation to this equipment. If it can be seen that the Participant is willfully or maliciously damages equipment or where negligence has been shown in the care of such equipment, the Participant hereby accepts that the Organiser has the right to charge the Participant for the cost of replacing the equipment.
8.2 Where timing equipment and/or other timing equipment are issued to the Competitor to wear during the Event, the Organiser expects these to be returned post-event. Where they are not returned, the Participant hereby agrees to reimburse the Organiser for the replacement value of £60.
9. Image Rights
9.1 I understand and accept that media professionals may take photographs and video footage of the event and its participants for use to publicise and promote events and sponsors.
9.1 The Participant is welcome to take photographs and film footage of his participation in the Event for non-commercial purposes (that is for personal and private use only).
10. Data Protection
10.1 The personal data and entry-specific information the participant gives will be used by the Event Organisers for the purpose of processing and publishing entries and results and of maintaining membership information. The organisers will not pass this data to any other third party. Credit and Debit card details are held solely by the Secure Payment Service Provider and are unknown to the Event Organisers.
11. Event Communication
11.1 In registering the participant must provide a valid email address so the organiser can send confirmation of event registration. The email address supplied (and any email addresses given when registering other people) may be used by the Event Organiser to send out information about the events entered. It may also be used by the organiser after the event ends to send follow-up information about the event and future events.
12. Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000
12.1 This section explains that the law allows you to cancel any online purchases up to seven working days after you made the transaction – unless the service you have paid for has begun within this time. If you will be entering a race online you should note the conditions below. This explains that because we will be sending you information relating to the event immediately the service will be considered to have begun, and you will no longer have the right to cancel. If you do not wish to waive your cancellation right in this way, you should not proceed with race entry via the website.

All tickets include parking, entry to the festival, live music, activities, and access to ‘demo and warm-up stages’ on all three days.

7. Team Name – as you would like it to appear on the results page (not who you want to ride with).
8. Group Name – Please enter the same ‘group name’ as the riders you wish to start with. Your group name can be any combination of letters or numbers and must be the same as the riders you want to be grouped with.
9. Expert rider: If you would like to be considered for the first wave, please write your best result of 2023. This may separate you from your group. Do not write anything if you don’t want to be seeded.
10. Ability level – Please rate your ability 1. Usually in the top 10% / 2. Faster than average / 3. Mid pack rider / 4. Steady away / 5. Hoping to make it round
